Olympia Full Day Tour

After you meet and greet our Professional Licensed Tour Guide at the port of Katakolon you will drive about 30′ to visit first the archaeological site of Olympia. One of the most recognizable sites in Greece since it is the birthplace of the Ancient Olympic Games. The whole sacred area has been unearthed and left as it was found .You can still feel the magic of being in this sacred location. You will be able to visualize yourself 3000 years ago at Olympia with all these people from all over the world as you visit the temple of Zeus and Hera, the ancient Olympic stadium and the ancient training centers. Your licensed tour guide will show you where they lit and kept the Olympic flame,the same place where today the ceremony of the lighting of the ,flame is held every 4 years.

Next stop of our Olympia Full Day Tour will be the archaeological museum of Olympia. Most of the antiquities have remained in very good condition and the masterpiece of the museum is the decoration relief of the temple of Zeus and the statue of Hermes made by Praxiteles.

After visiting Olympia you will have some time to enjoy the village of Olympia before you head to your next stop which is the monastery of Kremasti. Built in the early 1700, today it is a fully operational Greek Orthodox monastery with 10 nuns living inside.The view from Kremasti monastery is magnificent and worth visiting.

Before your Olympia Full Day Tour comes to an end you may also visit a local winery (optional) to taste some of the local wine of the area for which it is famous.
Your tour guide will then take you back to the port and your cruise line where you will head to the next port of call.
